
Nick Merrill was born in Portland in 1972. Nick graduated from Aloha High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy at the University of Idaho.
Nick graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2001, after having served as president of the Environmental Law Society, edited for the Idaho Law Review, and worked as a court-certified intern with the Nez Perce County Public Defender. After law school, Nick worked for the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office in Phoenix, Arizona until he returned to Oregon in 2005.
In addition to criminal defense and DUI cases, Nick's practice has grown to include real estate and land use cases. Nick recently served as the Assistant Editor for the Oregon State Bar's Real Estate and Land Use Digest, which published his article "Subsequent Purchaser May Sue Builder For Negligence" in its June 2008 edition. Nick is licensed to practice law in both Oregon and Arizona.
